MR CTL Release
The Missouri River Clay Target League (MR CTL), parent organization to the Bismarck, Century, Legacy, Mandan, Shiloh and St. Mary’s High School Clay Target League teams is proud to announce a continuing partnership with Kirkwood Scheels which returns as the 2019 Premier Shooting Sports Sponsor for the teams’ competition in the North Dakota State High School Clay Target League (ND CTL).
“We’re excited to welcome Kirkwood Scheels back as our Premier Shooting Sports Sponsor for the 2019 CTL seasons,” said MR CTL Coach Duane Boeder, “their support was instrumental in making 2018 such an incredible season of growth for our student-athletes,” he concluded.
With registration wrapped, the six area teams will have over 200 students in their ranks competing against more than 60 other high schools in the state and nearly 2,000 other students as part of the ND CTL spring season. The ND CTL started in 2015 as an affiliate of the USA Clay Target League, an organization with over 750 teams in 30 states with more than 30,000 participants nationwide. MR CTL will have a booth at the Kirkwood Scheels location on Mar. 9, 10, 15 and 16, showcasing members of their teams and recent accomplishments, while selling their Big Buck Calendar Raffle tickets to further support their efforts in 2019 and beyond.
The MR CTL program, open to area students in grades six through 12 who have completed hunters education, began in the spring of 2016 and has grown from just 38 shooters on three squads in that first season to 203 at all six Bismarck-Mandan area high schools this spring.
“Scheels is honored and excited to partner up with MR CTL for another exciting season” said Scheels Store Leader Tyler Halm, “this program creates opportunities to teach our kids lifelong skills, in a safe environment, that will stick with them in the field as much as in everyday life,” he concluded.
The ND CTL season starts Mar. 24 and runs through May 19. The State Tournament, which has expanded to two days, will be held at the Shooting Park in Horace, N.D. on June 16 & 17.
