MR CTL Release
The Missouri River Clay Target League (MR CTL), parent organization to the Bismarck, Century, Legacy Mandan, Shiloh and St. Mary’s High School Clay Target League teams is proud to announce a continuing partnership with Kirkwood Scheels which returns as the 2020 Premier Shooting Sports Sponsor for the teams’ competition in the North Dakota State High School Clay Target League (ND CTL).
“We’re excited to welcome Kirkwood Scheels back as our Premier Shooting Sports Sponsor for the 2020 CTL seasons,” said MR CTL Coach Eric Thompson, “their support has been instrumental in our last two years so incredible in terms of success for our student-athletes and growth of our great program,” he concluded.
With registration wrapped, the six area teams will have 259 students in their ranks competing against more than 60 other high schools in the state and nearly 2,000 other students as part of the ND CTL spring trap shooting season. Additionally 25 students will be shooting skeet under the MR CTL banner this spring. The ND CTL started in 2015 as an affiliate of the USA Clay Target League, an organization with over 750 teams in 30 states with more than 30,000 participants nationwide. MR CTL will have a booth at the Kirkwood Scheels location showcasing members of their teams and recent accomplishments, as part of the store’s Spring Shooting Sports Spectacular on Mar. 14 & 15.
The MR CTL program, open to area students in grades six through 12 who have completed hunters education, began in the spring of 2016 and has grown from just 38 shooters on three squads in that first season to 259 at all six Bismarck-Mandan area high schools this spring.
“Scheels is thrilled to partner with MR CTL for another exciting season; it’s been fun to watch the league grow and the shooters progress. MR CTL helps teach kids a lifelong sport and gives them the tools necessary to compete.”
The ND CTL season starts Mar. 29 and runs through May 22. The State Tournament, which has expanded to two days, will be held at the Shooting Park in Horace, N.D. on June 12, 13 & 14.
